The Books.
Wildfire - Hannah Grace
★★★★★
I reread this so the world was fresh in my mind coming into Daydream and it was just a cute as I remembered. Russ and Rory are so sweet together and the setting is wonderful too. It is super easy to read with lots of fluff and spice thrown in too but still has plenty of character development and depth.
Ruthless Fae - Caroline Peckham + Susanne Valenti
★★★★
The second in the Zodiac Academy series. Is the writing still terrible? Yes. Is is still absolutely addictive? Absolutely yes!
Fix Her Up - Tessa Bailey
★
So it turns out I have really mixed feelings about Tessa Bailey. I honestly thought this was a pretty terrible book and listened on 2.5x speed just to get through it. There no real depth, cringey spice and too much else that I didn’t enjoy. Looking back it should have been a DNF for me.
The Cruel Prince - Holly Black
★★★★
This actually took me by surprise in a really good way. I thought it was well written, a great length and a really unique concept. I’ll definitely be continuing the series.
Fangirl Down - Tessa Bailey
★
I’m not sure why after such an unsuccessful previous Tessa Bailey read I jumped straight into this one but it was just as bad in my opinion. Neither Josephine nor Wells were likeable characters, their decisions were hard to justify and the attraction wasn’t believable at all. I actually took the plunge and DNF’d this one.
Empire of Storms - Sarah J. Maas
★★★★★
I am well and truly invested in this series. I don’t seem to feel the emotions that others feel when reading but I still think it’s absolutely fantastic. I loved the character development and reading all the different stories and it was a successful first tandem read.
The Guest List - Lucy Foley
★★★
An interesting thriller that was great on audio as each character has a different narrator. It took a little while to get into but then once the reveals began I was gripped. I was really disappointed in the way it ended though. Not the ‘big reveal’, that fascinated me, but the actual ending.
Tower of Dawn - Sarah J. Maas
★★★★★
Tower of Dawn seems to be a Marmite book for most people and I am firmly in the love category. It turned out to be one of my favourites of the series with incredible character development and fascinating insight into the continent. Highly recommend the tandem read.
Have you read any of these? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
See you next month!
